Chipo Hwami is a Zimbabwean fashion designer based in Los Angeles. She owns a fashion design company called Panashe Designs that designs and produces African inspired fashion for men and women from the ages of 25 to 45. Hwami's designs are a true reflection of her core values namely her love for fun, family, integrity and helping others. Panashe designs was founded in 2007 as a means to fulfill a vision to help single mothers but it was officially launched in 2015. Having been a single mother for 8 years, Hwami faced her own adversities raising her daughter. She has, however, turned her adversities into stepping stones to building a center for single mothers. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, another in Global Supply Chain and an Associates in Fashion Design. She has won 2 first place awards at the Gold Thimble Fashion Show in Los Angeles and was honored to have had those awards handed to her by fellow designer Kanye West.

Chipo is currently working in the aerospace industry. She knows textiles, garment construction, pattern making, draping, and illustration. She is a wife, a mother, and a lifelong student. She’s open to mentoring anyone who is interested in fashion design on how to maneuver through this secret world of fashion.
