With its namesake in honor of the mother of modern nursing, 160 IU Health nurses were invited to kickoff a leadership and development training program that’s part of a worldwide celebration.

In her role with Trauma and Emergency General Surgery, Ashley Meagher, MD, MPH, has assembled a group of volunteers that meet every other month and make quilts. In 2019, more than 150 patients and families at IU Health Methodist Hospital who faced end of life circumstances, received one of their quilts.

IU Health’s six-month cohort program designed to equip outstanding informal leaders with tools that prepare them to transition to formal leadership roles. has inspired two Vascular Surgery team members to pursue MBA degrees.

A fitness center has been installed at the offices of Riley Anesthesia at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. It is part of the IU Department of Anesthesia’s program to reduce burnout and improve spiritual and physical well-being among its caregivers. A fitness challenge is helping participants feel happier and healthier.

As part of a wellness program for caregivers, the IU Department of Anesthesia has installed a fitness center in its office at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. Department Chief Senthil Sadhasivam, MD, says introducing a fitness challenge is helping many of his colleagues.
