Marriage is not only a personal commitment but a powerful witness that shapes families, workplaces, and communities. In this episode, Jim and Martha welcome Julia Dezelski of National `Marriage Week to talk about why marriage is under attack, why it still matters deeply, and how couples can intentionally build marriages that reflect God’s design. From practical daily habits to the bigger cultural impact of strong families, this conversation reminds us that healthy marriages aren’t just good for home – they’re essential for the flourishing of society and the workplace.
What You’ll Hear
Why marriage is a covenant, not just a contract, and how it shapes identity and purpose
The theme of National Marriage Week: Together with Purpose and what that looks like in real life
How healthy marriages impact leadership, productivity, and emotional health at work
Practical ways couples can become a visible witness to others through their marriage
Julia’s 3 Simple Practices for a Strong Marriage
Julia shares three habits she and her husband intentionally practice:
Pray together daily – even if it’s just one short prayer.
Check in during the day – ask how your spouse is doing and how you can pray for them.
Schedule a date night – keep dating, even in busy seasons with kids.
Why This Episode Matters
Our marriages don’t exist in isolation. They influence our faith, our children, our work, and our witness. As Julia explains, when couples pursue God together and live with shared purpose, the ripple effects reach far beyond the home.

What if real unity in a city doesn’t start with new programs but with noticing what God is already doing?
Paul Hemminger of Unified Dayton joins Jim and Martha to share how Dayton, Ohio, is experiencing citywide collaboration rooted in trust, relationships, and faithfulness. This conversation also points to the larger Faith and Work movement and the role the Faith at Work Summit plays in bringing practitioners together to learn, connect, and collaborate.
What You’ll Hear
How Paul’s early reading of Scripture shaped a vision of believers working together and the disorientation he felt when real life didn’t match what he saw in the Bible
Why Unified Dayton doesn’t try to “run” collaboration but instead focuses on affirming and validating what God is doing – recognizing and connecting faithful obedience already happening across the city
A practical picture of unity through networks, not organizations, allowing people to live out God’s will in their specific context: workplace, location, or cause
Why it’s hard to borrow God’s eyes when measuring Kingdom impact with stories of rest, healing, maturity, and courage often telling the truer story of transformation
A refreshing reframing of leadership pressure through the reminder that we are invited into a light yoke life, choosing faithfulness and discernment over urgency and striving
How collaboration matures over time as people learn to walk together, discovering that networks become places where we “learn to like and grow to love” one another, offering a powerful witness to the world (John 17:21-23) and a lived experience many will encounter at the Summit
This episode reminds listeners that transformation doesn’t come from striving harder, but from trusting God and walking together. If you long to see your workplace, city, or community reflect God’s Kingdom more fully, this conversation - and the invitation to gather in June in Cincinnati at the Faith at Work Summit 2026 – is for you.

Most Christians don’t struggle with whether to live out their faith at work. They struggle with how.
In this episode, Jim Brangenberg talks with author Michael Cafferky about the real cost of getting faith at work wrong – and the quiet power of getting it right. The conversation centers on Cafferky’s novel On the Brink, a workplace fiction story following Gabriel Oliver, a successful mid-level executive whose desire to boldly live out his faith creates unexpected tension, resistance, and professional consequences. Through Gabriel’s journey, listeners explore what happens when good intentions collide with workplace realities and what a wiser, more effective approach to faith at work can look like.
As part of the conversation, Michael also offers to give away a copy of On the Brink. Just be the first listener to email Martha@iWork4Him and request this amazing work of fiction with an oh-so-important message.
What You’ll Hear
Why being silent about faith isn’t the answer – but why religious overload often backfires
The difference between using religious language and living out God’s character
How focusing on vulnerability, integrity, and faithfulness can open doors faith slogans and Jesus t-shirts never will
This episode gives working believers a practical framework for living out their faith with wisdom and credibility. Jim also reminds us about the iWork4Him Nation Pledge, a simple but powerful commitment to pray for coworkers, serve them intentionally, build real relationships, and pursue excellence – turning everyday work into meaningful ministry.

What if chasing purpose has been the very thing holding you back from living fully alive?
In this episode of iWork4Him, Jim and Martha Brangenberg welcome back Jessica Rimmer to discuss her new book The Purpose Formula, for a refreshing conversation about where purpose truly comes from and why so many believers feel worn out trying to define it.
Jessica challenges the idea that purpose is something we must earn or achieve. Instead, she reframes it as something God gives that flows through us in every season of work and life. Along the way, she introduces a surprising formula for discovering purpose – one that includes design, desire, and even disappointment – and explains why chasing impact can quietly pull us off course.
If you’ve ever felt pressure to make your work “count” or wondered whether your purpose extends beyond a job title, this episode will gently shift your perspective.
Bonus: Jessica is giving away 5 copies of The Purpose Formula. To request a copy, email [email protected] with your name and mailing address (US residents only) or call 866-713-9675 (WORK).

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the workplace
Not a person was working, Celebration filling the air space.
The reports were all done, finished for the year
All in hopes that a week of vacation was near.
The projects completed all wrapped up and snug,
Preparing to leave work, got some crumbs on the rug.
Christmas season brings great conversations at work.
Real life becomes realer as the holidays often bring hurt.
Swapping of presents, and drinking of eggnog,
Hoping for a Christmas bonus for the year’s long work slog.
Thought my life was destined for ministry, found out my workplace was more of my destiny,
Full of great people I work with each day
Needing some love, and a point to the Way.
Learned to pray for my coworkers, bosses, and employees all during the day.
Found out the real change came to me and changing my way.
Learned to help out when others were too busy.
Saw that my effort brought a smile instead of a hizzy.
This year, brought work friends into my home to feel God’s love,
Best way to introduce Him in a way that models kids’ gloves.
Working with excellence creates a great platform,
For listening to someone hurting makes them feel warm.
I’m in full-time ministry – my workplace, my destination,
Mission field of lost and hopeless looking for truth among the frustration.
The new year will bring more ministry opportunities at work.
What a blessing to be paid fulfilling my calling – quite a perk!
So, as the stockings are hung, you sit down in your chair,
You realize instead of St Nicholas, God chose to put YOU there.
Merry Christmas from iWork4Him!

That’s the heartbeat of today’s conversation with Dr. JoAnn Flett, Executive Director of Seattle Pacific University’s Center for Faithful Business.

In this special Thanksgiving edition of iWork4Him, Jim and Martha share a heartfelt, practical conversation about living as people marked by gratitude – at work, at home, and before the Lord. This episode offers a gentle reset for your soul and a timely reminder to slow down, look around, and thank God for the people and blessings woven into your everyday life.
This conversation explores:
1. Being Thankful at Work
How small, intentional expressions of appreciation – from spoken thanks to love-language-based encouragement – can shift the atmosphere and help people feel seen.
2. Being Thankful at Home
Why gratitude matters most with the people closest to us, and how noticing everyday acts, celebrating each other’s strengths, and appreciating God’s daily gifts can reshape the home.
3. Being Thankful to the Lord
A reminder that all gratitude begins with Him. Jim and Martha reflect on God’s faithfulness in their marriage, family, and calling, pointing us back to the Giver of every good gift.
Jim also shares a brief update on a new project he’s grateful for – The Power of OR Podcast, a collaboration with SaferNet’s Brad Hawkins that explores practical ways believers can make better decisions and navigate challenges with wisdom.
A Thanksgiving Encouragement
As you head into the holiday, we encourage you not to walk through it alone if you can help it, and to take every opportunity to thank the people around you. Gratitude grows best when it’s spoken.
