【History of Okinawan Minyo Music 沖縄民謡の歴史】

沖縄の歌のはじまりは、祭祀や儀礼で神と語らう「神謡」だった。五穀豊穣や航海安全などを願い、神へ捧げられる祈りの言葉と旋律。それらを琉球王府が収集し、編纂したものが琉球最古の歌謡集『おもろさうし』といわれる。琉球王朝時代、宮廷芸能として育まれた音楽は、いまでは琉球古典音楽と呼ばれるが、これらを首里城の外へ持ち出し、遊び歌へと発展させたのが民謡だ。[Discover Japan]

The origins of Okinawan music lie in *kami-uta* (divine chants), which were used to converse with the gods during rituals and ceremonies. These prayers and melodies were offered to the deities to wish for bountiful harvests, safe voyages, and overall protection. The Ryukyu Kingdom collected and compiled these sacred chants into the *Omoro Soshi*, which is recognized as the oldest collection of songs from the Ryukyu archipelago.

While the music nurtured as court performing arts during the Ryukyu Kingdom era is now known as Ryukyuan Classical Music (*Ryukyu Koten Ongaku*), it was the everyday people who brought these melodies outside Shuri Castle, evolving them into vibrant folk songs (*Min'yo*) used for social gatherings and play.

信じるか信じないかは。。

ユタとは沖縄で現に活動している霊能者とされる人たちで、ムヌシリ［物知り］とかカミングヮ［カミの子］、あるいはカミンチュ［神人］などとも呼ばれます。宮古ではカンカカリャ［神がかり人］、八重山ではニゲーピトゥ［願い人］、カンピトゥ［神人］などと呼ばれます。ユタは悩み事を抱える人などからいろいろな相談を受けて、カミ［神霊や先祖の霊など］と直接接触・交流などを行い、それに基づいてアドバイスし、人々の悩みや苦しみなどに応えようとします。

Yuta are people regarded as spiritual practitioners who are currently active in Okinawa. They are also called ムヌシリ［物知り), カミングヮ (children of the gods), or Kaminchu (god-persons). In Miyako, they are known as カンカカリャ(people possessed by gods), and in Yaeyama as ニゲーピトゥ(people of prayers) or Kanpitu(god-persons).

Yuta receive various kinds of consultations from people who are troubled or distressed, and they are believed to make direct contact and communication with kami—such as deities or ancestral spirits. Based on this interaction, they offer advice and seek to respond to people’s worries and suffering.

On the 2nd March, Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. released its 2025 "White Paper on Fertility Awareness," a survey examining attitudes and the current reality surrounding pregnancy and childbirth. Among 400 unmarried men and women aged 18 to 29, the percentage of those who responded that they "do not want children" reached 62.6%, exceeding 60% for the first time. By gender, the percentage of women surpassed that of men for the first time, hitting a record high of 64.7%.

The survey was conducted online in December 2025. In the 2020 survey—when this question was first introduced—the percentage of respondents who did not want children stood at 44.0%, marking an increase of over 18 percentage points in five years.

Regarding the prospect of having and raising children, women expressed significantly higher levels of concern than men, particularly regarding "financial burden" and "negative impact on career."

ロート製薬は3月2日、妊娠・出産を取り巻く意識や実態を調査した2025年版の「妊活白書」を公表した。18～29歳の未婚男女400人のうち「子どもが欲しくない」と回答した割合が62.6％に上り、今回初めて6割を超えた。男女別では初めて女性の割合が男性を上回り、過去最高の64.7％となった。

調査は25年12月にインターネット上で実施。子どもが欲しくないと回答した男女の割合は、この質問を始めた20年の調査では44.0％で、18ポイント超上昇した。

子どもを産み育てることについて、男性よりも女性が特に不安視しているのは「経済的な負担」や「仕事のキャリアへの支障」だった。
