Other sources on the web say that Gen X’rs are better prepared for this Pandemic than any other generation...

In the past week I have argued extensively with my wife about which music best represents Gen X, but if we Gen X’rs were born around 1965 to 1980 - this is a long span of time, and a HUGE amount of music indeed! And I am more interested in the music that hit me in my teens through twenties, and so, this mix I present here, is a representation of what being from ‘Generation X’ means to me. Please enjoy.

Last weeks mix was party party Disco, while this one, 'Pandemic Feels' brings you on more of an emotional feels journey, whilst still vibing with funk and soul. Enjoy!

No other plant in human history has had more musical dedication than the international weed of wisdom.

Especially by Jamaican musicians. It's hard to select about an hours worth of my favorites from an endless and growing stash of ganja chune, but here I present to you, my "420 Bangers!"

There is so much to say about Jackie Mittoo, THE KEYBOARD KING! One could say that he invented reggae music. He was a founding member of the Skatalites at only 16! He then moved on to arrange the early ska, rock steady and reggae songs at the legendary Studio One in Jamaica. He created many of the infamous riddims of reggae that are still used today in Dancehall and Roots reggae. He recorded in England with UB40 on Labor of Love, and Musical Youth providing a big hits with Red Red Wine and Pass The Dutchie (on his Full Up riddem).

He moved to Canada in 1969 to Toronto, but continued to work in Jamaica and toured, and/or recorded, as a member of the Skatalites and with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Sugar Minott, Johnny Osbourne, Willie Williams, and others.

I could go on and on, but instead I made this mix which is full up of songs written about Jackie, songs that sampled Jackie’s recordings, remixes of Jackie’s songs - a few you may not have known that he played on. Enjoy the warmth of the Keys as Jackie tickles the ivory.

Disco was a key influence in the development of electronic dance music in general and house music in particular. It has had several revivals…

As Disco was dying, it took on more electronic character that led us to new wave, old-school hip hop, euro disco and to the underground! This mix runs through it baby - LETS DANCE!
