At any given time, you’re likely to find Jim Lauderdale making music, whether he’s laying down a new track in the studio or working through a spontaneous melody at his home in Nashville. And if he’s not actively crafting new music, he’s certainly thinking about it. “It's a constant challenge to try to keep making better and better records, write better and better songs. I still always feel like I'm a developing artist,” he says. This may be a surprising sentiment from a man who’s won two Grammys, released 34 full-length albums, and taken home the Americana Music Association’s coveted Wagon master Award. But his forthcoming album Game Changer is convincing evidence that the North Carolina native is only continuing to hone his craft.
Operating under his own label, Sky Crunch Records, for the first time since 2016, Lauderdale recorded Game Changer at the renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville, co-producing the release with Jay Weaver and pulling from songs he’d written over the last several years. “There's a mixture on this record of uplifting songs and, at the same time, songs of heartbreak and despair—because that's part of life as well,” he says. “In the country song world especially, that's always been part of it. That’s real life.”

🟥 MATT HILLYER
When legendary honky-tonk band Eleven Hundred Springs played its final notes near the end of 2021, it understandably felt like an ending to many of its loyal fans. Over the course of 23 years the group played countless shows around the world, released over a dozen albums, and had become the standard for what a swingin' Texas country band should be. But for lead singer-songwriter Matt Hillyer, the ending of his beloved band wasn't the closing of his own musical road.
HIllyer's life in music began well before Eleven Hundred Springs was born. He honed his chops in the rockabilly outfit Lone Star Trio, and even a rock band, Strap, hitting the stages of Dallas' storied Deep Ellum neighborhood throughout the '90s. In 2014 he released his solo debut album If These Old Bones Could Talk, a stellar effort that served as a reminder to fans that HIllyer had more to say than what could be found on Eleven Hundred Springs releases. With Glorieta, Hillyer doesn't begin a post-1100 life as much as he continues the dance he began decades ago. It's really that simple.

🟥 WILLIAM BECKMANN
Born and raised in the small border town of Del Rio, TX, William Beckmann spent his formative years with a radio dial dominated by the sounds of northern Mexico. Though he'd eventually gravitate more towards the classic country and American roots, Beckmann's early immersion in Mariachi and Norteño music left an indelible mark, one that would help shape his distinctive style and guide him on his path to becoming one of the most promising young voices in country music today.
"My family has Mexican heritage on both sides," Beckmann explains, "so speaking Spanish around the house was a regular occurrence. When I started learning how to play guitar, I was just naturally singing in Spanish as much as I was in English."
While Beckmann still slips a bilingual moment or two into his live shows, these days he primarily delivers his evocative, literate tunes in the plainspoken English of Townes Van Zandt or fellow Del Rio native Radney Foster, who's helped mentor him since high school. Writing with an old soul maturity that belies his youth, the 26-year-old songwriter crafts rich, detailed character studies fueled by loss and longing, intimate portraits of lonely lovers, big dreamers, and hard drinkers. Take a listen to a track like "Bourbon Whiskey," which Beckmann wrote at just 19, and it's easy to see how he's already managed to land a publishing deal with Warner Chappell alongside tour dates with the likes of Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen.

Brad is half of the songwriting duo The Warren Brothers. Brad and Brett Warren moved to Nashville in 1995 and, in 1997, signed a record deal with RCA records. They made three albums for RCA's sister label BNA Records; they also had one independent release.
The brothers are best known for their songwriting, having co-written 15 Top #10 songs, including 9 #1's for artists, including Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Toby Keith, and Steven Tyler, & Chris Young. 🟥 RANDY ROGERS
Randy Rogers was born in Cleburne, Texas. At the age of 6 years, he learned to play the piano from his grandmother and later started playing the guitar.
The Randy Rogers Band recorded its debut album, Live at Cheatham Street Warehouse, at a music hall of the same name in San Marcos, Texas. By 2002, the band was signed to the independent Downtime record label, on which they released the album Like It Used to Be. It was around this time that the band began performing outside of San Marcos, primarily at Nutty Brown Cafe and Amphitheatre in nearby Dripping Springs, Texas. Two years later, the album Rollercoaster was released, producing two minor entries on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in early 2005. Rogers also co-wrote "Somebody Take Me Home", a song recorded by Kenny Chesney, on his 2005 album, The Road and the Radio. Several of the songs on Rollercoaster were co-written by Radney Foster, who also co-produced the album. Just a Matter of Time, the band's first major-label album, was released on Mercury Nashville Records in 2006. The band also released their self-titled album on September 23, 2008, also on Mercury Nashville Records. The first single "In My Arms Instead", was released in August.
The band's fifth album, Burning the Day, was released on August 24, 2010, on MCA Nashville. The album's first single was "Too Late for Goodbye." It debuted at 55 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and after four weeks on the chart, it peaked at 47.
"One More Sad Song" was released in late 2012. The song became the band's first Billboard Top 40 hit, and the first single from their sixth album, Trouble.
Dreamer: A Tribute to Kent Finlay, released in 2016 on Austin-based Eight 30 Records, features Randy Rogers and Sunny Sweeney's duet "Between You and Me".

🟥 CORY MORROW
Cory Morrow didn’t become a Texas legend by being quiet. He sings about strippers and Jesus with equal fervor. While this dichotomy may leave those on either side of the moral equator perplexed – the answer is actually very simple. Cory Morrow is beautifully and uncomfortably transparent. From the beer-soaked, cocaine laden days of his early career, to today’s more sober and spiritual leg of the journey, one thing about Morrow has never changed – as goes Cory’s life, goes Cory’s songs – and that’s never been more evident than on his newest studio release “Whiskey & Pride”.
The record, set to drop in September 2018, is an aggressive blend of early Morrow sound with a current day perspective. Vintage feel from an evolving heart and mind. The title track, “Whiskey & Pride” features the age-old struggle of love versus ego and cleverly straddles the line of sermon and self-deprecation. The twist comes in the form of a mirror behind a bar that reveals the true identity of the accuser. The track, which is also the first single release, features the Texas Country-style instrumentation prevalent in Morrow’s early days, including steel guitar phenom and producer of “Whiskey & Pride”, Lloyd Maines.
“Whiskey” boasts twelve songs previously unrecorded, including two covers giving nod to mentors Rodney Crowell (Funny Feeling) and Jerry Jeff Walker (Hill Country Rain). Quite possibly, the jewel for fans is “Always and Forever”, an iconic Morrow ballad that has only appeared on live recordings. Cory is joined by the unforgettable Jamie Lin Wilson on the long-awaited studio version of the classic.
“Whiskey and Pride” run the gamut on subject matter from the daily grind (Restless, Blue Collar) to living in the moment (Breath, Let’s Take This Outside). Musically, it explores the spectrum from tender (Smile, Daisey) to raucous (One Foot, Revival), and includes spectacular moments from long-time band-leader and coveted studio guitar player John Carroll. “Whiskey” seamlessly weaves its way through simple and sweet, moody and complex, and offers equal doses of introspection and fun.
If the new record, and this phase of Morrow’s career, had to be summed up in one word – the word would be “real”. As evidenced by his latest recordings, live shows, and online communication with fans, he’s not pandering, he’s simply doing what he knows. Pulling back the curtains, letting us in, and letting the chips fall where they may.
