The House is in a district work session 9/29-10/6, meaning Representatives are not scheduled to return to session in Washington DC until AFTER the current funding deadline has passed. The Senate recently rejected a house-approved funding resolution, keeping funding unresolved. With no funding resolution mutual agreement in place yet, this means a government shutdown could happen effective Oct 1. Ryan looks at what developments - if any - are in the works.

Nemours Children's Health announced a $1 million secured sponsorship for permanently funding their Child Life Specialist position, from the Child Cancer Fund. It stems from the 1994 Christy Fund from JF and Carol Keirnan, who lost their daughter to cancer. The Child Care Specialist works directly with pediatric cancer patients, in clinical, therapeutic, and recreational capacities. The initial posting has been held by Joli Craver ("Miss Joli"), who will be retiring this year.
