    BURN PITS EXTENSION - Veterans with health problems from exposure to toxic burn pits now have more time to file for their benefits. Late last night, the VA announced it would extend the deadline for vets to apply for what’s called PACT Act benefits and get those benefits backdated to the day the President signed the bill last year. That means former service members won’t be leaving money they earned on the table. It comes as President Biden is set to speak in Utah today on the one-year anniversary of signing this bill into law. It was the largest expansion of benefits and services for toxic exposed veterans and survivors in over 30 years. The VA made the move after technical problems with the filing site and long wait times at VA call centers. We’ll explain the details and what those who served need to know to get their money and healthcare.

The number one message surrounds online safety – this is a generation of kids who grew up on the Internet and don’t think twice about it. The BBB says it is crucial to remind students about protecting themselves and their personal information online. That’s up to parents and family members, as well – we’ve all seen those back to school photos with the chalkboard that lists “Buddy’s first day in Miss. So and So’s class” – it usually has your kid’s name, their school, their teacher – and many other bits of personal information that could be used in ways you’re not intending. Experts are also warning about cons involving “homework helpers,” where children have been extorted. We’ll go over the scams and the tips to keep in mind.
