    NEW this morning, the White House is announcing a response plan to try to address the growing threat of fentanyl combined with xylazine, or tranq. The drug is an animal tranquilizer that can slow down your heart and breathing and when its combined with fentanyl, it can become a deadly substance. Recent CDC data shows tranq was involved in more than 3,400 overdose deaths in 2021 with almost all of them including fentanyl too. Part of this new plan includes increasing testing, data collection and treatment. We break down some of the staggering trends with fentanyl combined with tranq and the potential prevention efforts for the state/local levels.
