Twenty years after running to the house of Laban to save his life, Jacob has had enough. Through dealing with the deceit of his Uncle Laban and the drama in his own family, Jacob has finally come to a place where he sees God's sovereign hand on his life and can trust God to lead and protect him. But how will Laban react when his daughters have fled and his household idols are stolen? This week we read through Genesis 31 where Jacob separated himself from the house of Laban. We'll see Jacob and his family leave by stealth, only to be pursued by Laban, and read what happened during the last encounter between Jacob and Laban. We'll learn how this story is like our call to leave the world behind when we follow Christ and the importance of trusting God fully with every part of our lives.
