Listen Later

WARNING: This episode contains material that may be sensitive for some listeners.

In this episode we're joined by ultra runner Jacob Stevens for part one of a multi-part series with Jacob.  Jacob most recently competed in the Sangre de Cristo 200 Miler finishing in first place in 86 hours.  Jacob grew up rough in Louisiana and battled sexual abuse for much of his childhood. Fast forward through adulthood, he found himself swimming at the D1 collegiate level, only to face a new battle later on; drug and alcohol substance abuse.

You can follow Jacob's journey on instagram @ultrarunnertx. Jacob is also an active writer, contributing to Ultra Runner Magazine, Human Potential Running Series, and MixedMartialArts.com.  You can also pick up a copy of his book Afterthoughts & Hand Grenades here. Jacob resides in Dalhart, Texas with his wife Michele.

The conversation will pick up next time on how Jacob began running, the strength running has given him, and the lessons he's learned so far.
