Does God really work everything for good for those who love Him?
Jacob fled for his life after stealing his brother's birthright and blessing. Then in the midst of the wilderness, he had an encounter with God who promised to be with Jacob and bring him back into the land of promise. But when he finally reaches his mother's family in Haran, and Jacob the deceiver meets his match in his manipulative uncle, what will these events mean in light of God's promise?
This week we begin reading Genesis 29 and see the beginning of Jacob's life in the house of his uncle Laban. We'll learn what happened when Jacob entered into an agreement to marry Rachel, Laban's daughter, and how Laban manipulated events to his own benefit. We'll see how even in the midst of Jacob reaping the consequences of his actions, God is still working all things together for Jacob's good, and how God still works that way in our lives today.
