  • Follow-up: Catching up with our doctor-in-the-making Kabelo Moche
We met Kabelo in February this year as part of our Good Morning Angels New Year’s edition with Sabat Batteries.

He had just received his final matric results: seven distinctions. He was also on his way to study medicine at Wits.

At the time, he was going to study with the help of NSFAS, but the funding did not cover all his expenses. We helped with the shortfall, but then the Gauteng Premier’s Office heard his story on Jacaranda FM and offered him a full bursary.

Sabat still assisted with a laptop and other materials not covered by the bursary. The Good Morning Angels Fund also provided R4 000 a month to cover his on-campus living expenses and food. That assistance comes to an end this month.

It’s just before the final exams of Kabelo’s first year, so we’re checking in and wishing him well. GMA webpage

  • United in Texture: Cracking the Code of African Creativity
Recorded live at Loeries Creative Week, this conversation pushes back against the myth of a singular "African creative style" and dives into the rich, multi-layered textures that make our work distinctive on the world stage.

Host Kabelo Moshapalo (Chair of the Creative Circle & CCO, Ogilvy Johannesburg) is joined by industry giants Lanre Adisa (Founder & Group CEO/CCO, The Ark Group / President of the AAAN, Nigeria) and Max Ngari (CCO, Dentsu Creative East Africa, Kenya).

Across East, West, and Southern Africa, they explore the real craft behind cracking big ideas from simple briefs, why creatives must "fall in love with the problem," and how to navigate shared hurdles like talent drain and AI. A masterclass in uncovering overlooked cultural truths and proving that African creativity is wildly regional, globally lethal, and always unified in texture. Creative Circle website

Zayyan was just nine years old when he was diagnosed shortly after Christmas last year. He has been receiving treatment at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and is currently on maintenance treatment.

His immune system is still too compromised for him to return to school or be among large groups of people. GMA webpage

Three-year-old Peyton Wahl is the youngest of Marcel and Sheramé’s three children. His sisters are in Grades R and 2.

It is still unclear exactly what happened, but the short of it is that Peyton fell into a bath of piping hot water at home. He sustained severe second- and third-degree burns to 21% of his little body.
