Welcome! and Thank you for listening.  What does a 100 mile grueling trail race have to do with wellness?

Community, mindfulness, endurance, grace, grounding, connection with others, and connection with nature are just a few words that come to mind.  I experienced them all on a volunteer level and the runners and crews experienced them exponentially.

Dig deep, you can do more than you think you can are words of the race founder, Ken Chlouber.  Those are things to do when motivation deserts you.  And as he says, motivation will desert you when you need it most.

Can't, try, and it is too difficult, are things that we hear too often in the regular world.  Comfort and easy will not be there for you when times get tough.  Yet, most of us prefer comfort and easy.  Hacks to make life more simple.  Prepared food, take out, and pleasure of the palate are what we turn to when motivation leaves us at the alter.

I hope you enjoy my recount of my time volunteering on Hope Pass at 12,100 ft above sea level in a place where only legs will get you, where the air is fresh, and the view is heavenly.

Congratulations to all of the racers at the Leadville 100 mile trail race.  You are an example to all of us.  Thank you for allowing me a glimpse into your adventure.
