This week on The Set Peace Podcast, we’re joined by a true footballing all-rounder and legend in grassroots Jamie Leggett. Jamie’s journey has taken him from Sunday league pitches with Abbey Boys and Long Lane, through youth football with Thamesmead Town and Bromley FC, all the way into senior spells at clubs.
But Jamie isn’t just a player. He’s coached at grassroots and semi-pro levels as well as managing both 5-a-side and 11-a-side teams. He’s even represented Scotland and England at 6-a-side level, showing his versatility and love for the game.
What makes this conversation stand out is not just the football CV, but Jamie’s work around mental health. He has manages the #LetUsTalk Mental Health 5s and 11s, creating safe spaces in football where conversations about well-being can happen. In the second half of our chat, Jamie opens up about why mental health is so close to his heart, the lessons he’s learned along the way, and how football can play a powerful role in breaking down stigma.
This episode is honest, insightful, and full of stories that highlight both the beauty and the challenges of the game. One for football fans, coaches, players, and anyone passionate about well-being in sport.
The set peace podcast is about more than football it’s about the people behind it.
Every 2 weeks, we sit down with guests across the game from pros to physios, coaches to players, these are the conversations we all need to hear, in football and in life.
With 45 minutes talking football and 45 minutes on mental health and well-being these conversations are for everyone whether you’re in football or not.
