This week on The Set Peace Podcast we welcome two outstanding professionals of the women’s game Charley Clifford and Chloe Arthur.
Charley, a Charlton legend with the club record for appearances, has gone on to represent Crystal Palace, ebbsfleet and now at Barking . Chloe has played at the very highest levels, with spells at Celtic, Hibernian, Bristol, Birmingham, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace as well as proudly representing Scotland on the international stage.
In the first 45 minutes, we explore their journeys through football from the challenges of breaking into the professional game to being part of the incredible growth of women’s football in recent years. They share their unique perspectives on how the game has evolved, We talk highs, lows, promotion, where it all began, and what it really takes to stay at the top, and how important allyship is from the men of the sport.
The second half of the conversation takes us deeper into mental health and well-being. Charley and Chloe open up about their personal challenges away from the pitch, the pressures that come with elite sport, and how their experiences mirror many of the struggles we hear from players in the men’s game.
By bringing these stories together, the conversation highlights the importance of creating a united front around mental health where it’s not about gender or comparison, but about people, resilience, and support.
An inspiring and powerful discussion for football fans and non-football fans alike.
The set peace podcast is about more than football it’s about the people behind it.
Every 2 weeks, we sit down with guests across the game from pros to physios, coaches to players, these are the conversations we all need to hear, in football and in life.
With 45 minutes talking football and 45 minutes on mental health and well-being these conversations are for everyone whether you’re in football or not.
