For all of our recorded memory, we have dreamed up gods who have incredible powers to create and recast life and to cheat death. We are beginning to develop this power for ourselves with advances in genetics and the question now, as with every technological progression, is how to use it wisely.Joining us to speak about this urgent topic today is Jamie Metzl, technology and healthcare futurist, geopolitical expert, media commentator, and author of Hacking Darwin: Genetic Engineering and the Future of Humanity amongst other books. Jamie is a Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council, a Singularity University faculty member, and the Founder and Chair of One Shared World. In 2019, he was appointed to the World Health Organization's expert advisory committee on human genome editing. Jamie has the research and credentials to back him up as an authority in this space, and today we cover some compelling topics around evolution, biology, and our responsibility as humans to use our creative powers for good that will shake you to your core.
