Jan Broberg is a mother, actress, speaker, and advocate. When she was a young girl, she and her parents faced grooming and sexual abuse at the hands of a neighbor. The events that unfolded afterwards, which include two childhood abductions by the same man, are a clear example of grooming and the cyclical nature of abuse. However, all that she’s done to heal since - which includes a book, a Netflix documentary entitled Abducted in Plain Sight, Peacock's scripted series called A Friend of the Family, her non-profit, podcast,  and more - are also beautiful examples of resiliency and strength. Thus, we are so grateful she joined us today to share all that came next for her as a survivor and parent.

Eric Johnson is a security professional, author, co-victim of murder, and victim advocate from Michigan. He launched himself towards a career designed to protect and serve the safety of consumers at a very young age. However, his career in victim advocacy would begin after losing his father Bill (and Bill’s beloved dog) to domestic violence in 2021. What came next in terms of the legal system and in terms of his healing is a testament to Eric’s immense strength and fortitude, and the Broken cycle Media team is immensely grateful he was willing to share his time and perspective with us this week.

Tabatha Ross-Brown is a Michigan familywoman, certified mental health support specialist, victim advocate, and founder of the non-profit organization Parent Real Talk. After providing her services to parents-in-need, Tabatha came to realize that America severely lacked awareness and available resources for families experiencing violence or abuse by a child-age perpetrator. She set out on a mission geared towards awareness, treatment, and prevention of child-to-family - and more specifically child-to-caregiver - violence. Her efforts have included the establishment of the very first American-based child-to-parent violence Awareness Day in several counties in Michigan, and her goal is to establish a nationwide awareness day. Brandon Andres Green is a father, familyman, survivor of abduction, trafficking, and torture, and immensely strong victim advocate. He faced trauma as a youth in Oklahoma, and recognizes those events as pivotal points in his personal journey. By the time he was eighteen, he had been launched down a path rife with dangerous, illegal activities. But just weeks after graduating high school, on Independence Day 2003, his freedom from a life of physical pain would be stolen from him forever. Still, Brandon remains to be a beacon of light, love, and hope for everyone who hears his story.
