Lori Adams-Brown is a mother, survivor, leader, and an expert in cross-cultural business affairs. Anthony Jensen is a father, actor, producer, and survivor from Idaho by way of Oregon. He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1980’s to pursue a career in entertainment, and although the years following would be filled with great success, a 1991 shooting would forever impact the way he navigated life. Anthony was the manager of a movie theater, and in the auditorium, when a film’s opening night turned violent. The Broken Cycle Media team is so grateful that Tony took was willing to share about his experiences that evening, as well as about all that came next in his career and within his healing process.

Alison Jones-Lockwood is a mother and victim advocate in Colorado. Her career in aiding survivors began years ago while she was in college, and continues to this day. Although her journey recently pivoted when she became Executive Director of the Rape Crisis Center for Northern Colorado, at the time of our recording she worked with EVAWI or End Violence Against Women International. The Broken Cycle Media team is grateful Alison was able to offer such a broad perspective of the advocacy arena, as well as a detailed account of what’s coming next for EVAWI, as the organization works to change the criminal justice and legal landscapes for victims. Although the importance of advocacy work is always relevant, this conversation is especially timely considering October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Her experiences surviving professional abuse, sexual harassment, and suspected voyeurism at the hands of this renowned forensic psychologist have been motivation in Amanda’s mission to ensure the mental health industry fosters safety and wellness. In this episode, Amanda bravely shares what she was subjected to within the walls of this psychologist’s office, and what came next within her healing journey after freeing herself of the abuse.
