For women, the term "motherhood" can create either excitement or fear depending on your audience. In this episode, listeners should be able to gain perspective on the topic of child bearing and child rearing without casting resentment. Although I do not have children myself, I understand that motherhood is difficult. Conversations surrounding motherhood often leave women idealizing the topic as if it is their civic  duty to reproduce or they end up running for the hills in search of contraceptives. Women should support women, regardless of your walk of life, please do not allow major media to sway your outlook on mothers or those who choose to not experience it, for their own reasons. Let's bridge the gap and eliminate the stigma, at least amongst ourselves, in order to unite femininity and reproductive freedom!

Don't assume because someone takes their clothes off for money that they have no sense of self-worth, ambition, or self-respect. The phrase "sex sells" has stuck with us, as consumers, for a reason. Within the US sex work is considered "nasty" and "low brow". But in countries like Germany, sex work is not only legal, but a completely normal way of earning income. Treating people with dignity and respect should not be limited to those that clock in, wearing a suit, to a 9-5 job. Sex workers are clocking in, just like you! Please don't allow what society has taught you, about modesty, to cloud your ability to see people, who are different than you, as anything less than worthy of respect. 

Parents, are we really being disrespectful? Or are we just calling you out for disrespecting us? Being held accountable, especially if it comes from your own children, can be uncomfortable. However, accountability should not be a one-way street in parenthood. Just because they are your kids does not give you, the parents, the right to bully and disrespect them. I encourage you, parents, to allow yourself to gain perspective from a child's place and be the safe adult you wish you had in your own childhood.

How do we stop normalizing the toxic behaviors in other people? How do we recognize them in ourselves? Is reaching our limit, and later exploding, even really worth it? 

In general, no one really enjoys disappointing their parents. But would you rather be miserable, living a lie, and be bound to someone you don't truly love? Would you be willing to uphold that for the sake of maintaining expectations that weren't yours to begin with? Yeah, me neither.

We once watched movies, listened to music, and admired models for the art form and content they created. Now, the only form of entertainment that feels socially stimulating is seeing a celebrity's entire career, and life, fall apart while all the world watches. It's giving Britney, circa 2007. We, as the consumers of media,  are no longer hard to entertain as long as a celebrity has a public relationship crisis.  With all the attention on Will and Jada, Kim and Kanye, Johnny and Amber, fans are now becoming attached to their screens and to the people displayed on them. Parasocial interaction creates the idea that we are ON our favorite sports team, that we KNOW our favorite celebrity wouldn't engage in violence, and that our politicians truly want the best for our country. Take a step back and remember that these are people, just like you and me.

Settling for abuse, maltreatment, and maladaptive behaviors for the sake of companionship has become a plague in our society. Prioritizing having, and maintaining, a romantic relationship should not be the focal point of our accomplishments. This tends to lead to the dissolution of self and the obsession of preserving toxic partnerships. Prioritizing our safety, comfortability, and sense of self is something that gets pushed to the back burner when we are introduced to having interactions and relationships with others. We, as a collective, need to refocus our intentions and energy back onto the self in order to not perpetuate the vicious cycle of validation chasing and enduring loveless relationships.

Discussion of sexual assault and victim blaming.

In order to better protect ourselves, and others, open conversation around sexual assault/abuse needs to be normalized. Creating a safe space for someone to express their vulnerability and fears, even children, should be mandatory in parenting. Our devout beliefs about the world,  and the people in it, often morph into ignorance and stubbornness, when challenged. I challenge everyone to look beyond what they think they know and gain perspective from the opps. We allow ourselves the opportunity to bridge the gap between opposing sides when we stop categorizing differences as opposition. 

Come take a dive into the world of victimhood! Understanding the difference between those that utilize their trauma for gain and those who acknowledge their short comings due to being victimized is CRUCIAL. Take the time to see both sides, throughout this episode, in order to help yourself and help others identify potentially problematic behaviors. My aim is to help eradicate the victim mindset and empower those who need it most! I said what I said!
