January 8, 2023 Sermon - Abusing God's Grace

Listen Later

This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:

"Abusing God's Grace!"

Have you ever heard of or used the phrase, "I’ll ask forgiveness later!"

In our culture and society, this phrase is often used by someone who intends to go against an established rule or regulation supposing the outcome. . . the pragmatic good. . . will override the infraction and that forgiveness will be granted.

Summed up another way. . .

The person presumes that though they commit an intentional wrong that forgiveness will be granted and all will be forgotten.

Most folks use the phrase, "I’ll ask for forgiveness later" in a humorous way. Though they realize what they are doing. . . or will do. . . is wrong, they do it anyway believing that the end justifies the means.

They believe that breaking the rules a little will not create or produce a lasting effect upon their lives.

Is it possible to fall into this error as Christians?

Of course it is! Though we might not come right out and say it, we can. . . at times. . . feel like we can ask for forgiveness later for our present intent and actions.

I am here to tell you that such behavior and thought abuses God’s grace.
