Japanese Classic Car Show | Long Beach Auto Show

Listen Later

The 14th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show made the list of The Professor's Spectacular September of Auto Shows and this year's event did not disappoint.

Although the show of oldie-but-goodie imports continues outgrowing locations it's managed to stay in the city of Long Beach - not far from its previous venue.

iDriveSoCal's Professor, Clinton Quan, made the show and delivers the full report in this iDSC Podcast.  Click play below and enjoy the pics from this year's event.

Spectacular September of Auto Shows!
Clinton Quan: The show has just gotten so big and there are people that come from all over the country to attend the show now.

There was this huge line that was wrapped around, along with the main drag. It was incredible, the number of people that were waiting in line just to get in.

It's one of the very few Japanese Classic Car Shows out there.

Tom Smith: Welcome to iDriveSoCal, the podcast all about mobility, from the automotive capital of the United States, Southern California.

We're here, the Professor, and me, Tom Smith podcasting again. Thanks for joining us and this one is about the Professor’s... Well, actually this is one of the car shows from The Professor’s Spectacular September of auto shows. Dah, dah, dah, dah!

Tom Smith: Sorry, had to be done. I might drop another one or two of those before this one's over with.
14th Annual Long Beach Event
Tom Smith: The Japanese Car Classic...

Clinton Quan: The Japanese Classic Car Show.

Tom Smith: The Japanese Classic Car Show. Sorry, thank you for correcting me, Professor. JCCS - that's what they call it.

Clinton Quan: Alright...

Tom Smith: Japanese Classic Car Show.

Clinton Quan: Yes.

Tom Smith: Japanese Classic Car Show, okay.

"JCCS - that's what they call it."

Tom Smith: The Professor hit it, and it was Long Beach.

Clinton Quan: Long Beach and this year at a brand-new venue, Marina Green Park, adjacent to Shoreline Village. This is the 14th year for the event. Previously, it was held at the Queen Mary Events park, and the show has just gotten so big.

Tom Smith: It's not that far away right? The two locations?

Clinton Quan: It's not that far away.

Tom Smith: Okay.

Clinton Quan: Yeah.

Tom Smith: So, it's still kind of the same vicinity, they're just moving a little bit.

Clinton Quan: Yeah. Maybe a little bit less than a 10-minute drive, I'm sure

Tom Smith: Okay.

Clinton Quan: Yeah, five, 10-minute drive.

Clinton Quan: But a bigger venue, and the show has just gotten so big and there are people that come from all over the country to attend the show now.

Tom Smith: Is that right?
Serious Raffles & Prizes
Clinton Quan: Yes. In fact, I think they even do a contest where they ask registered owners who came the furthest and I think they get a... whoever came the furthest gets a special prize.

Tom Smith: Candy bar?

Clinton Quan: I don't know. They have some cool stuff. They give away really cool stuff.

Tom Smith: Is this the one where you won the $800 rims once during the raffle?

Clinton Quan: Yes.

Tom Smith: Okay.

Clinton Quan: Interesting, while I was in the line...

Tom Smith: You won the rims?

Clinton Quan: ...purchasing raffle tickets... No, they didn't have that this year, someone actually remembered me, and he said, "Didn't you come here several years ago, and you won the grand prize?"
