より (yo-ri) = than

より暑い (yo-ri-a-tsu-i) = hotter than (よりあつい)

一番 (ichi-ban) = the most/the best (いちばん)

一番近い (ichi-ban-chika-i) = the closest/nearest (いちばんちかい)

洋 (you) = Occident and Orient; foreign; Western, European; ocean (よう)

洋服 (you-fuku) = (western) clothes (ようふく)

Lesson 3

着る (ki-ru) = to wear (from the shoulders down); to put on (きる)

着て (ki-te) = wore (きて)

締める (shi-me-ru) = (2) to wear (necktie; belt); to put on (v1, vt) (しめる)

締め (shi-me) = tighten (しめ)

締めて (shi-me-te) = to put on (しめて)

締めてください (shi-me-te-ku-da-sai) = please put on (しめてください)

締めます (shi-me-ma-su) = I wear/I put on (しめます)

牛肉 (gyuu-ni-ku) = beef (ぎゅうにく)

どちらが好きですか？(do-chi-ra-ga-su-ki-de-su-ka) = which do you like better? (どちらがすきですか)

私は鶏肉より牛肉が好きです(wa-ta-shi wa to-ri-ni-ku yo-ri gyuu-ni-ku ga su-ki-de-su) = i like beef better than chicken

私は鶏肉より牛肉のほうが好きです(wa-ta-shi wa to-ri-ni-ku yo-ri gyū-ni-ku no-hou-ga su-ki-de-su) = i like beef better than chicken

静かな所のほうがいいです (shi-zu-ka-na to-ko-ro-no-hou-ga-ii-de-su) = I would prefer a quiet location

飴 (a-me) = hard candy/sweets (あめ)
