4BC Breakfast with Peter Fegan

Jarrod Bleijie vows to scrap renewable projects that haven't consulted the community

Businessman Geoffrey Thomas wants to give Maleny Manor a huge makeover.

The Sunshine Coast Council voted down the proposal, but it looks like Queensland Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie is going to step in and override the council.

This comes off the back of another huge decision by the Deputy Premier who scrapped a $1 billion, 88-turbine wind farm near Rockhampton earlier this week.

Queensland Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "If you're a South East Queenslander and you get a 240 metre tower in your suburb or community built next to you, you have a right to appeal."

"You have a right to protest, you have a right to say, express your concerns about it."

"But in our regional communities, they didn't have these rights when 240 metre towers were going in the neighbourhood."

"Now they do," Mr Bleijie said.
