Season 8 episode 6 featuring Miles McAlpin aka Sir Collect-a-Lot
Miles joins me once again on the JayyPod Bonecast, and at this point he's on his way to earning Spotify Playlist status with nearly four appearances on the show! Jokes aside, Miles has been with us since the beginning, as you'll hear in this episode, and it's been amazing watching his journey unfold.His work is creative, hilarious, and genuinely impressive. We also spend some time talking about fatherhood and how becoming a dad has completely changed his life. In this episode, I had the pleasure of catching up with my good friend from high school, Kara Arico, who truly knows the meaning of hard work. We spent time catching up while also showing some love to her workplace, Town Spa, and their iconic bar pizza.One of the coolest things you’ll hear in our interview is that Kara runs her own business called Who’s a Good Egg, where she trains dogs, takes them on long walks and hikes, uses in-house treadmills for exercise, and even offers boarding services as well.I absolutely loved talking with Kara about this because the podcast is already familiar with the work of our recurring guest Damian and his incredible work with dogs. What’s amazingly coincidental is that Kara was also inspired to learn how to properly train her rescue German Shepherd, which I thought was so awesome.You can truly feel the appreciation, care, and love Kara puts into her work. It’s incredibly inspiring, and I can’t wait to watch her continue to grow and hopefully catch up with her again on the podcast someday.I always love having Spellman guests on because it’s such a blast from the past, but Kara was literally one of my very first friends there, so this episode was especially meaningful for me. It’s amazing seeing all the homies doing well. You all taught me so much just by being around, and those lessons and experiences helped shape and create the Jayypod Bonecast. Featuring Amanda and reoccurring guest TJ! Amanda as in the “A” in J & A Acoustic a local musical duo you can catch performing at Lucy’s at Timberlanes and Off the Hook. It was an absolute pleasure having Amanda in the studio, joined by her fiancé and returning guest, TJ Petruzzelli.This episode was a long-overdue catch-up, and honestly, a bit kismet—having Amanda back in “the cellar” (our recording cave), a place that holds a lot of meaning from our childhood. Amanda and I were close growing up, attending both Holy Family School and later Cardinal Spellman High School together. I’ve always known her to be incredibly musically talented with an amazing voice, so it’s no surprise that she and Jackie clicked so naturally and formed J & A Acoustic, showcasing that talent together.We also dive into Amanda’s career as a social worker highlighting her journey from where she started to where she is now. It’s a profession that’s often misunderstood or overlooked, especially when people focus on the financial side, but Amanda gives a real and meaningful look into the impact of the work.On a personal note, Amanda is one of the kindest people I know, which makes perfect sense if you know her parents, Leanne and Chuck two of the most genuinely caring people out there. And it’s been awesome to see TJ become part of that family. He’s a great guy and incredible with her two boys I couldn’t be happier for them both.Of course, we go off track a bit taking a trip down memory lane with plenty of school stories.
