Jazz In Chicago's Dan Melnick talks with Joe Segal about the upcoming Jazz Showcase Relocation Benefit Concert at Harris Theater. Joe expresses his feelings about the state of Jazz and how things have changed over the years.

Trombonist?Composer/Arranger T.S. Galloway is interviewed on the eve of his participation in the Jazz Institute of Chicago's free JazzCity event, BEBOP BRASS, Feb 9, at 7:30, Austin Town Hall Park, 5610 W. Lake St in Chicago. airing young musicians with veterans, this one will feature trumpeters Maurice Brown (who made his debut in this band at age 17), David Young, Larry Bowen; trombonists Norman Palm, TS Galloway and special guest Ray Anderson. Rounding out the rhythm section are Lorin Cohen on bass, Ernie Adamson drums and band daddy Ken Chaney on piano.

Jazz In Chicago's Dan Melnick Interviews Grazyna Auguscik. Her Orkestar Universale, featuring special guests Paulinho Garcia and Goran Ivanovic performed at the Millennium Park World Class Jazz Made in Chicago, the past summer. Grazyna Auguscik’s pristine vocals have long been a perfect match for the delicate phrasings of Brazilian musician Paulinho Garcia’s guitar. Polish-born Auguscik has been exploring the music of many countries throughout her career. This concert brought virtuoso Polish accordionist Jarek Bester together with Auguscik, Garcia and Yugoslavian guitarist Goran Ivanovic to perform original compositions using native instruments from three continents.

Tatsu Aoki's re:ROOTED Project

Jon Jang and Francis Wong, collaborators with Tatsu Aoki in re:Rooted project discuss the ideas which helped develop their conception of Asian Jazz.

Tatsu Aoki's Re:ROOTED Project is the culmination of an exploration of Asian identity and cultural integration in three different communities. Marrying traditional and unconventional musical instruments and forms, the Re:ROOTED Project also blends the unique perspectives of older and younger generations of musicians. The concert features pianist Jon Jang and saxophonist Francis Wong.
