Hosted by Noah Preminger, this episode of the Jazz Language podcast was recorded live at Dada Bar in Ridgewood, Queens, and features a conversation with bassist Michael Feinberg and saxophonist Yunie Mojica. Feinberg, who has recorded for Criss Cross, is the organizer of the Ridgewood Jazz Festival, a nonprofit festival built on grassroots sponsorships from local businesses, with Chris Dave as this year's artist in residence. Mojica, a Hartford native who studied at the Jackie McLean Institute, programs SummerStage and the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival for City Parks Foundation and leads the Make Jazz Trill Again movement with Melanie Charles. In this episode, Noah, Michael, and Yunie discuss why they turned to community building, the day-to-day hustle of running a festival, grant writing and fiscal sponsorship, cold calling local businesses for funding, programming for the culture of a neighborhood versus personal taste, booking headliners to introduce audiences to rising stars, education partnerships from NYU's Clive Davis School of Music to college workshops, the mentors who shaped them, defining success as freedom and balance, and the one album they'd pass on to the next generation.

Hosted by Noah Preminger, this episode of the Jazz Language podcast features a conversation with saxophonist Ryan Devlin.
Devlin grew up in Orlando, where his father spent more than 30 years playing saxophone at Walt Disney World. He came to jazz through funk, chasing Maceo Parker and the Brecker Brothers before finding Steve Grossman, and went on to study with Jerry Bergonzi at New England Conservatory. Now executive director of the online education platform Jazz Lesson Videos, he has built his performing career largely through social media, which has led to gigs across the world, including an upcoming nine-country European tour with drummer Dave Weckl and a recording with Weckl titled The Summit.
In this episode, Noah and Ryan discuss growing up backstage at the Magic Kingdom, how a funk obsession turned into a deep dive on Grossman and Brecker, getting ridiculed on the Orlando scene and finding his voice anyway, Bergonzi's advice to play the way you want to play, landing major gigs through Instagram and YouTube, the business of online jazz education, a shared obsession with golf, and a rapid fire round covering everything from Elvin Jones to Tiger Woods.

A computer science student at Brown University before training at Berklee College of Music and studying privately with saxophonist Joe Viola, Field leads the New Orleans–rooted Revolutionary Snake Ensemble and the loop-based electroacoustic project beams.
