Paul Metsa is a defining Minneapolis musician of this generation. Reflecting on his recording career, Paul believes that a 1992 project called Whistling Past the Graveyard is one of his finest. So he is re-releasing it with bonus tracks and a re-take on one of the songs, Slow Justice. In a conversation with Phil Nusbaum, Paul talked about why Whistling Past the Graveyard is still relevant in 2020.

Lila Ammons. Hers is a prominent jazz family. Her grandfather, Albert, was a noted boogie woogie piano player, and her uncle was sax man Gene Ammons. But it hasn’t been jazz all the way with Lila, whose parents listened to a lot of symphonic music and opera.

Charlotte Matis operates Blackbirds, a music store specializing in strings, at 3445 Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis. The pandemic of course has changed the way the store does business, especially the business of giving lessons on multiple instruments. Charlotte gives violin lessons, which are now conducted over the internet.
