    Pianist Larry McDonough and guitarist Joel Shapira are playing the music of Bill Evans and Jim Hall in this session, Live From Studio 1. Larry and Joel came into the Jazz88 to talk about their tribute to Bill and Jim, and what it’s like playing in a duo with piano and guitar.
    Bill Evans and Jim Hall recorded two duo albums together; Undercurrent came out in 1962 and Intermodulation came out in 1966. Larry and Joel share an extended session of picks from the two albums. Emily Reese is your host.

    Violinist Gary Schulte and Guitarist Robert Bell joined Kevin O'Connor live from Studio 1 on March 26th - They are one half of Twin Cities Hot Club. The four-piece (also including Stan Ponkin on guitar and Matt Peterson on bass) will play The Dakota for Easter brunch on April 16th.

    Dean Magraw’s Red Planet, has it’s regular third-Monday of the month show at the Black Dog in Saint Paul, from 7 to 9PM. It’s a group Dean plays the guitar, Chris Bates plays the bass and Jay Epstein is the drummer. Red planet is a group conceived in the spirit of improvisation. We’re about to get a taste of Red Planet version of a 60s pop hit the Lion Sleeps Tonight.
