The Southside Aces celebrates its new CD June 3 at the Dakota in Minneapolis. Performing New Orleans jazz means playing from a catalog of thousands of songs spanning at least a hundred years. But the new Southside Aces recording presents fifteen new pieces, all composed by Southside Aces bandleader Tony Balluff. When Tony got together with Phil Nusbaum, Phil asked Tony bluntly, with all of that music already out there, why compose?
