Here we have a charming intimate letter written by Paul to a dear friend. Philemon's slave Onesimus... had run away from him and come under Paul's influence in Rome. He not only became a Christian but became very dear to Paul.

In John's Gospel the discourses are long and different in style; they deal almost entirely with the great themes of life, light, love, truth and Christ's relationship with the Father. There are many similes and metaphors but no parables at all.
