Professor Efraim Inbar

 

“Israel’s Old-New Security Challenges in a Fluid Strategic Landscape”

What Israel should do to meet the new security challenges.

 

Professor Efraim Inbar is the President of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategic Studies. He was a Professor in Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University and the founding Director of the Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies. Prof Inbar’s area of specialization is Middle Eastern strategic issues with a special interest in the politics and strategy of Israeli national security. He has written over 100 scholarly articles. He has authored five books and edited fourteen collections of articles. Prof. Inbar was a member of the Political Strategic Committee of the National Planning Council and the Chair of the Committee for the National Security Curriculum at the Ministry of Education. He served on the Academic Committee of the History Department of the IDF and as the President of the Israel Association of International Studies. Prof. Inbal served in the IDF as a paratrooper.

Yedidya is a practical Engineer and works in conjunction with the renowned Weitzman Institute in Rechovot heading a team of approximately 15. He has spent a number of years studying Torah, first in Yeshivat Shalhevet and later when he was married at Techiat Haaretz in Hebron.  Over the last decade Yedidya has been an active member of the Nachala movement where he serves today as the Director of Operations. Nachala is a non-governmental pressure group which promotes settling the land of Israel. During the years of his voluntary work for Nachala he has travelled the length and breadth of Israel promoting the ideals of Nachala. His audiences have included youth and adults alike. Lital is a construction engineer who has also been involved with Nachala for the past decade.

Rabbi Todd (Tuvia) Berman serves on the senior faculty and is the Director of Institutional Advancement at Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi in Jerusalem. Rabbi Berman received rabbinic Semikha at Yeshivat HaMivtar and learned for several years at Yeshivat Har Etzion. He holds a B.S. from Columbia University and pursued graduate studies at Harvard University. Rav Berman has held numerous posts in education from the high school level through adult education. He founded the Jewish Learning Initiative (JLIC) at Brandeis University and served as rabbinic advisor to the Orthodox community there for several years. Previously, he was a RaM at Midreshet Lindenbaum where he also served as the Rav of the dormitory. His writings have appeared in the New York Jewish Week, Tradition Magazine, the Meorot Journal, as well as many other publications. He also writes a popular blog on the Times of Israel.

Professor Shlomo Biderman is the President of the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yaffo (MTA). Prior to joining MTA, Prof. Biderman worked at Tel-Aviv University, where he served in many leadership positions. Prof. Biderman is a prolific scholar of Indian and comparative philosophy. Prof. Biderman also served on several committees of the Israeli Council for Higher Education and of the Israel Science Foundation. At MTA, Prof. Biderman pioneered the model of a New Academia that builds relevant and inclusive knowledge for the 21st century.Liat Weiss-Shahaf is a senior resource development specialist with over 15 years of experience working for leading NGOs and philanthropic organisations in Israel. Weiss-Shahaf joined MTA in 2007. Weiss-Shahaf is a leading entrepreneur, playing a key role in the application of the New Academia model at MTA. She directs the College's fundraising initiatives and academic collaborations in Israel and abroad, through building tri-sector partnerships with public sector agencies, private businesses, and civil society groups. served in leadership roles in Bnei Akiva , South Africa, from his early youth,

and also in the crack Givati infantry unit in the Israeli army. He is a husband

to Deborah and father of 6 children.
