JDNB: Jungle Drum & Bass

If you’ve yet to hear of Guzi, now’s the time to prick up those ears, because his debut album is about to drop on Sub-Liminal Recordings and it’s nothing short of exceptional. If you like to indulge in the full spectrum dnb has to offer and marvel and audio-technical mastery then this is the release for you.

The album starts with the first single, ‘What To Do’ ft DJ Hybrid- and let me tell you it’s an absolute dancefloor destroyer, choppy breaks, futuristic synths and a classic sample executed with cutthroat precision. Starting on a high this self-titled body of work continues at the same breath-taking altitude throughout. As the album progresses, you’re invited to weave through each and every element of the fabric of the drum and bass genre, jungle, jump-up, dubstep and even flickers of juke can be heard. Guzi showcases his expertise, versatility and very clearly his respect, passion and love for all the musical melting-pot of sound and culture that make up drum and bass. It is not hyperbolic to say that each track effortlessly slips into its own separate sub-genre.

It’s no surprise that master craftsmanship pours out through each decibel of this record. Guzi is a professional mixing and mastering engineer who consistently perfects in excess of 100 tracks jungle and drum and bass tracks a month, and also works as a course creator and a music production tutor at Education & Bass. As if that didn’t leave him busy enough he heads up ‘Sub-Divison Recordings’- the sister label to ‘Sub-Liminal Recordings’ and a brand new jungle and breakbeat label ‘Section 63 Recordings’.

his November we have the 6th release for Section 63 Recordings, brainchild of DnB producers Guzi and Woolfe. Section 63 Recordings was created to give a platform to release music heavily influenced by the nineties rave scene. Old school rave with a modern twist.

Sadly JDizz tragically lost his life last month. He was taken from us far too young and was incredibly talented. One of the 2021s breakthrough acts of the recent jungle revival. We hope the scene will help his name live on by spinning these tracks in raves for years to come.

Another new signing, Wobbles, making his debut on 24 Karat Recordings.

'I Kill Monsters' - The title track, is a dark and broody affair. Rolling beats and a huge bass drive the track along nicely. We move on to 'The Arrival', another sci-fi infused roller with clever use of samples and stepping, rolling beats. Dark AF. Next Wobbles gives us 'Vacant'. If you like your DnB deep and moody - this one is for you. Serious production. We finish up with 'What You Told Me' - featuring Mighty Mini on the saxophone. Full Spectrum DnB from 24 Karat.

Following on from his release with Katrina D, Danny Styles teams up with another member of the Doy family, the younger sibling, Shane Doy.

Shane is a talented multi-instrumentalist from Hull, UK and shows his talents here on the guitar and bass. Danny's keyboards, drum programming and sampling skills shine in this track and we think you'll agree this release sees the versatile DnB artist and Dj step outside of the box.
