Come along with me on a relaxing ASMR road trip from Texas to Northwest Arkansas!

We're heading to Arkansas to spend some time with family, and I thought it would be fun to bring you along and share some of the sights, stops and little discoveries we found along the way.

Our journey takes us north through Texas, through Oklahoma and eventually into beautiful Northwest Arkansas.

Along the way, we'll make a stop at Buc-ee's in Ennis, Texas, where I'll show you around, do a little shopping for the grandchildren and try the famous Beaver Nuggets for the very first time. We’ll brave Dallas traffic, pass another Buc-ee’s in Melissa, travel through Oklahoma, see Reba’s Place in Atoka, and enjoy some of the small towns and changing scenery along the way.

We'll also talk a little about the Native American nations whose lands we travel through and why Northwest Arkansas has become such a fascinating and rapidly growing part of the country.

And finally, we'll arrive at the best part of the journey: family.

Tonight, my friend, I thought we'd sit down and have a little conversation about some of the things I do differently now than I did when I was younger.

Some of them are little things, some are bigger things, and some took me quite a few years to figure out.

We talk about friendships and the people we choose to have in our lives, taking better care of ourselves, worrying less about what other people think, protecting our time, appreciating the ordinary days, choosing comfort a little more often, and realizing that we don't always have to save the ""good stuff"" for someday.

One thing I've come to appreciate more and more is the quality of the people in my life. I think of friendships almost as circles, with a few people very close to the center and other circles extending outward. Those circles aren't a measure of someone's worth or the quality of the friendship. They're simply different levels of closeness. What matters to me now is having kind, genuine people throughout all of those circles...people around whom I can simply be myself.

Maybe that's one of the nicest things about getting older. We don't necessarily have everything figured out, but perhaps we get a little better at recognizing what really matters.

So get comfortable, settle in, and let's have a quiet chat.

Welcome to another Friday Flip! Today we're exploring a beautiful 1977 issue of Architectural Digest, kindly sent by Marina from Vancouver, British Columbia. Thank you, Marina!

Hello, dear friends - and especially young parents today!

Have you ever felt like everyone else has parenting figured out except you?

While ironing this afternoon, I found myself thinking about all the young moms and dads who are trying so hard to be perfect. I remember those years well, and if I could sit across the table from every young parent today, these are some of the things I'd want to say.

You're probably doing far better than you think.

This isn't parenting advice from an expert. It's simply a conversation from someone who's been there, raised children, made plenty of mistakes, and discovered that love matters so much more than perfection.

If you're in the thick of raising little ones, I hope this encourages you.

It's morning when I record this...so I thought I'd include you in on my Get Ready With Me (and simple makeup routine for my everyday look) and some chatting as I prepare to go run some errands.

Hi Friends,

Here's a story from several years ago...one I'd love to revisit with you.

On a hot summer day, I was driving down a country road when I spotted a little coyote on the side of the road. She was badly injured, most likely after being hit by a car, and I knew I couldn't just leave her there.

I named her Flower.

I took her to Sierra Wildlife Rescue in Diamond Springs, California, where an incredible group of people agreed to do everything they could to save her. Flower underwent surgery to repair her badly broken leg and eventually went to a wildlife rehabilitation enclosure where she could recover while remaining wild.

And then Flower got a roommate.

A very handsome male coyote.

Naturally, I named him George Clooney.

Months later, Flower and George were finally ready to return to the wild, and I was fortunate enough to be there for their release. I still have the photographs and video from that day, and I'm sharing them with you as I tell their story.

I never saw Flower or George Clooney again. And although part of me desperately wanted to, perhaps that was the best possible ending. They were wild animals, and they were finally back where they belonged.

I hope you'll enjoy the story of Flower.
