Jennifer Sutherland is a Denver-area comic who does both sketch and stand-up comedy. She tells Dan Bublitz Jr that when things go wrong on stage you have to take ownership - in other words, in order for a comic to improve, he or she can’t simply blame the audience.
Jennifer reminds us that it’s tough to talk about personal stuff with some audiences - she and Dan explore how to deal with dark material without making the crowd so sympathetic that they feel sorry for you. If you feel the crowd isn’t into it, Jennifer says you have to avoid self-sabotage - do your best - because you can’t read their minds - they may be really into it.
Overcoming negative feelings isn’t easy when you’re a performer - Jennifer and Dan jam about different ways to get your mind moving in a new direction before the show. They also explore Dan’s fear of dolls.
