Jersey Guy Sports

Rutgers basketball won 84-72 as they moved to 3-0 on the season.  Keep expectations all the way low this year though, as it will be a long year.  I preview the season and discuss expectations.

The Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll after yet ANOTHER epic late collapse,  amid a miserable season.  Daboll was 12-38-1 in his last 51 games with the Giants. Schoen remains as GM for now.

• Disaster in Chicago.  The Giants choked away a 20-10 4th quarter lead, as Dart left the game with a possible concussion after the 3rd period.
• Without Dart, the Giants offense is non-existent.

Rutgers pulled away from Maryland, winning 35-20 behind a career game from Antwan Raymond.  Raymond had 240 rushing yards, and Kaliakmanis threw 4 TD passes as RU overcame their own poor defense to move to 5-5 on the year.

• The Giants defense once again had no answers in a 34-24 loss to the Niners.
• Jaxson Dart was good, but the 2-7 Giants' defense was not. Yet again.

Rutgers looked like a joke of a team in an atrocious 35-14 loss to Illinois. Rutgers defense was astoundingly bad again, and Kaliakmanis was poor all day.

• A devastating Cam Skattebo injury compounded an embarrassing Giants 38-20 blowout loss to Eagles.
• A dislocated right ankle will have Scattebo out for the season.
• The defense again was an unmitigated disaster as the Giants reel toward the bottom of the league YET AGAIN.
• Giants fans lost half their reason for watching this dreadful team as the misery continues for loyal fans.

• Rutgers rallied past lowly Purdue 27-24 behind KJ Duff and Antione Raymond heroics.
• Without Ian Strong, and down most of the game, Rutgers stormed back to get their 1st Big 10 win on a last second field goal.

The Giants’ defense imploded in a crushing 33-32 loss to Denver.  The Giants defense gave up 25 points in the last 5:20 of regulation to complete the collapse.

Rutgers got embarrassed by Oregon as their defense surrendered 750 yards and 56 points. I discuss the embarrassment of being a RU fan now, and take a hard look at Schiano's viability going forward.
