Please join host Amir Oren for an interview with Minister for Jewish Diaspora Affairs Nachman Shai, who is likely Israel’s foremost authority on military-media relations. If this issue has four or five angles to it, Shai has seen it from six.

Prior to entering politics, then-Brigadier General Shai was a member of the General Staff when he was appointed IDF Spokesperson, best known for calming a concerned nation during a barrage of Iraqi missile fire on Israel in the 1991 First Gulf War.

Shai has also served as a combat correspondent, Spokesman for Israel’s United Nations Mission and Washington Embassy, Media Advisor to Defense Ministers Moshe Arens and Yitzhak Rabin, Head of IDF Radio, abroadcast executive, Visiting Professor at two of America’s best universities, as well as the author of a book and PhD thesis on the media-military nexus.

When a nation fears that its enemy is developing the ultimate weapon and may threaten to use it, a military strike intended to destroy this project is not unthinkable.

Indeed, Iran set this precedent roughly 41 years ago, when it unsuccessfully sent its Air Force to bomb the Iraqi nuclear reactor. A few months later, Israel did it, with a totally different result, and in 2007 repeated this operation against the North Korean reactor secretly built in Syria.

It is logical to assume that if Iran persists in accumulating the necessary tools and material needed for nuclear warheads, Israel would try to pre-empt it. But with international conditions what they are, is Israeli military action a real prospect, or just an option talked about in order to give more weight to American diplomacy?

In twenty years as Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin established his reputation as a major figure on the global scene and brought his country back from its dismal appearance during Boris Yeltsin’s reign. An important part of his agenda had to do with a pro-active foreign policy backed by military force, from Georgia to the Ukraine and onward to Syria.

But next week Putin’s political party, United Russia, will be tested in elections - and according to public opinion polls is expected to get a smaller slice of the country’s parliamentary pie. Russian voters may long for the real or imagined glory days of the Soviet Union, but they seem more interested in their economy and domestic issues than in Putin’s power plays in the Mideast and elsewhere.

What does it mean for the next Russian moves in the Middle East? An advance, a retreat or more of the same?

- Amir Oren, TV7 Analyst and Host of Watchmen Talk.

- Prof. Zeev Khanin, Expert on Russian and Middle Eastern Studies, Bar Ilan and Ariel Universities.

Jerusalem Prays - Day of Atonement: The meaning of Yom Kippur for Believers? by TV7 Israel

Please join host Amir Oren for the second of a three-part interview with Ehud Barak.

If there is one Israeli who deserves to be the proverbial man who needs no introduction, it is Ehud Barak. For some 35 years a soldier, in the next 25 years or so moving in and out of politics, Barak has served in virtually every senior position, up to Prime Minister. He has led the most elite of units, Sayeret Matkal, on both clandestine intelligence missions and lethal commando raids. Rushing home from abroad to take part in war, he commanded a tank battalion in fierce battle. As a General officer he had five key posts, was Director of Military Intelligence, headed Central Command and eventually was promoted to Ramatkal, Chief of General Staff. Drawn into the cabinet by Yitzhak Rabin, a mentor, he was Foreign Minister, Leader of the Opposition and in 1999-2001 Prime (and Defense) Minister. He later held the Defense portfolio for another five years.

Every so often there are reports of aerial strikes in Syria, for which the Damascus regime attributes responsibility to Jerusalem. Less frequently, purported Israeli action involves surface-to-surface missiles rather than aircraft, because the targets are presumably closer to the Golan Heights’ armistice line.

Whichever tool is utilized; the reality is clear.

Iran, without whose help Syrian President Bashar Al Assad could not survive a decade of domestic conflict, is being compensated by exploiting territory in the Arab Republic to position its own ‘Quds Force’ assets as well as proxies against Israel. These launching pads, intelligence outposts and munitions depots are immediately added to the Israeli Air Force target-bank.

- Amir Oren, TV7 Analyst and Host of Watchmen Talk.

- Brigadier General (Res.) Yossi Kuperwasser – Project Director on Middle East Developments, Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.

Admiral Charles Richard, who heads the United States Strategic Command, sounded a relatively new alarm the other week. He warned that the entire structure of global stability, which rests on nuclear deterrence between the U.S. and Russia, could be undermined by the emergence of China as America’s peer. Of course, the view from Beijing is quite different - an economic powerhouse wishing to fulfil its potential by moving West, through its Road and Belt Initiative. Without judging which of these perspectives is more to the point, can there be a meeting of the minds on this issue?

Jonathan Hessen and Amir Tsarfati discuss the importance of using the time given to us on this earth wisely, and in accordance with God’s Will and Plans for our lives.

Psalm 90

A prayer of Moses the man of God.

1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place

throughout all generations.

2 Before the mountains were born

or you brought forth the whole world,

from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

3 You turn people back to dust,

saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”

4 A thousand years in your sight

are like a day that has just gone by,

or like a watch in the night.

5 Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—

they are like the new grass of the morning:

6 In the morning it springs up new,

but by evening it is dry and withered.

7 We are consumed by your anger

and terrified by your indignation.

8 You have set our iniquities before you,

our secret sins in the light of your presence.

9 All our days pass away under your wrath;

we finish our years with a moan.

10 Our days may come to seventy years,

or eighty, if our strength endures;

yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,

for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

11 If only we knew the power of your anger!

Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.

12 Teach us to number our days,

that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?

Have compassion on your servants.

14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,

that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,

for as many years as we have seen trouble.

16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,

your splendor to their children.

17 May the favor[a] of the Lord our God rest on us;

establish the work of our hands for us—

yes, establish the work of our hands.

Jonathan and Yair invite TV7 viewers to join us in prayer for God to lead us, and bless our many new upcoming productions.

The two hosts also reiterate our vision of creating a 24/7 Christian broadcast from Jerusalem to all the nations.

Happy feast of Trumpets from Jerusalem!

The Feast of Trumpets

Leviticus 23; 23-25

23 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.’”
