What happens when God begins changing the plans you've carefully made? Join me as I share my unexpected journey toward retirement, learning to surrender, trust the Holy Spirit's leading, and respond to the Lord's gentle invitation: “Come away with Me.”
What is the secret of true contentment?
In the final episode of Contentment in a Culture of Comparison, we look at what Paul meant when he said he had learned to be content whether he had little or plenty.
Contentment doesn't mean giving up our dreams, never wanting our circumstances to change, or refusing to enjoy God's blessings. It means learning to hold those blessings with open hands—without asking possessions, success, relationships, approval or influence to give us the identity, security and peace that can ultimately only be found in God.
We'll also ask a deeper question: What has my heart?
Because the secret of contentment isn't having everything we want.
It's discovering that Christ is enough in every season.
Comparison trains our eyes to notice what is missing. Gratitude teaches us to see what is already here.
In Part 3 of Contentment in a Culture of Comparison, we explore how gratitude can bring our attention back from somebody else's life to the goodness God has already placed in our own.
Because gratitude doesn't necessarily change our circumstances.
It changes what we notice.
Have you ever finally received something you really wanted, only to find yourself wanting the next thing soon afterwards?
In Part 2 of Contentment in a Culture of Comparison, we explore why “enough” can be so difficult to recognize in a culture constantly encouraging us to upgrade, achieve and accumulate.
We'll look at the subtle difference between healthy desires and discontentment, Jesus' warning about greed, and what Paul meant when he said he had learned to be content whether he had little or plenty.
Because if enough is always somewhere ahead of us, we will spend our lives chasing it.
Join me as we ask a simple but revealing question: What am I expecting “more” to give me that perhaps only God can provide?
Have you ever looked at a life you were once grateful for and suddenly felt that it wasn't enough?
In Part 1 of Contentment in a Culture of Comparison, we explore how comparison can quietly steal our joy, turn gratitude into dissatisfaction, and awaken a desire for more.
Through a personal story of getting caught in the pursuit of a bigger home, a bigger car and the appearance of having “made it,” we look at a lesson learned the hard way: material things cannot give us the peace, security or contentment that only God can provide.
Comparison doesn't necessarily take our blessings away.
It takes away our ability to enjoy them.
Join me as we begin this four-part journey toward gratitude, freedom and discovering what true contentment looks like in Christ.
The world offers many definitions of love, but true love begins with God, because God is love. In this episode, we explore what the Bible teaches about love and how God’s endless supply enables us to choose compassion over criticism, kindness over judgment, and loving action over empty words. Discover how even the simplest acts of love can touch a life and carry eternal value.
Have you ever asked God for direction, and then, when you sensed His answer, found yourself asking for just one more confirmation?
Sometimes we genuinely need discernment. But sometimes, we already know what God is asking us to do... we’re simply afraid to take the next step.
In Part 6 of Growing in Hearing God’s Voice, When God Speaks, Take the Next Step: Walking in Obedience, we explore what happens after we believe God has spoken. How do we move from hearing to doing? How can we tell the difference between wise discernment and fear? And what if we get it wrong?
You don’t need to see the whole road ahead. Sometimes God simply gives us enough light for the next faithful step.

Growing in Hearing God's Voice:
Have you ever wished you could hear God's voice more clearly?
Perhaps the problem isn't that God has stopped speaking, but that life has become so full of noise that it's difficult to recognize His gentle whisper.
In Part 3 of our Growing in Hearing God's Voice series, we explore why stillness matters, what we can learn from Elijah's encounter with God in 1 Kings 19, and how Jesus modelled the importance of withdrawing to spend time with the Father.
This short devotional will encourage you to slow down, quiet the distractions, and create space to deepen your relationship with God.
