Microaggressions are insulting and more problematic because they reflect very innacurate beliefs about other ethnicities and cultures.

Black people are actually way better at cross cultural communication, generally speaking, because they have more experience in it.  White people are often scared that they don't know how to speak to black people, which limits conversation.

We need to stop telling people of color to be patient and not make a fuss because things will eventually change.

We cannot bring healing into cultural divides if we are content to judge entire groups by our interactions with a select few.

White people will help bring healing if we can learn not to silence people who are sharing the reality of their lives by telling them they should only share positive stories and that we just need to love people.  Loving people means acknowledging their story.

40 days of Lent, looking at 40 things that people culturally classified as white can stop doing to help bring about racial and cultural healing.  This is Day 1.  Stop trying to learn about people who are potentially vulnerable from a position of not being vulnerable.
