Interview with author and professor Matthew Thiessen. Jonny interviews Matthew on his book “Jesus and the Forces of Death: The Gospels' Portrayal of Ritual Impurity within First-Century Judaism.” Matthew starts out by breaking down two binaries that were used by ancient Jews - holy and profane; purity and impurity - and uses those as a guide to enlighten the listeners about ritual purity laws in first century Judaism and why Christians should care about them.
