Week 4: Jesus Calls Us by Name
The Power of Personal Encounter
Scripture: John 20:14–16
This week in our “Risen Indeed” journey, we find Mary Magdalene outside the empty tomb, lost in her grief and confusion.
She doesn’t recognize Jesus—until He gently calls her by name. In a moment, sorrow turns to joy, and despair is transformed by His personal love.
The risen Jesus sees us, knows us, and calls us each by name, even when we feel unseen or misunderstood. His presence brings comfort, assurance, and a sense of belonging.
How often do we miss His voice in our pain or busyness?
Jesus is always near, whispering hope and life into our hearts.
Let’s listen for His voice, confident that He knows our story and meets us exactly where we are.
Let us pray:
Risen Jesus, thank You for calling me by name, just as You called Mary outside the tomb.
Whether I am male or female, young or old, full of confidence or full of questions, Your voice reaches me.
When I feel invisible, uncertain, or overwhelmed, remind me that I am never forgotten or alone.
Speak my name in the quiet moments and in the noise of my days.
Let Your presence turn sorrow to joy and doubt to belonging.
Help me respond to Your love, and follow where You lead, trusting that You know me completely.
Amen.
