This message invites us to move from a self-centered way of loving to the Christ-centered love Jesus commands in John 13:34–35. It shows how our need for belonging, significance, and security can trap us in performance and fear, shaping relationships around what others can do for us. 

In contrast, Jesus’ love transforms us to ask who we are becoming for the good of our relationships. The Holy Spirit exposes the attitudes that create distance—comparison, defensiveness, and unrealistic expectations—and leads us toward repentance. By taking responsibility for our part, listening with understanding, and choosing what love requires, our hearts are reshaped. This is not about fixing behaviour but allowing God to transform our beliefs so Christ’s love can be seen through us.
