Thou shalt not kill sounds like an easy enough command for most. We would say that we are not guilty of the action, but what about the attitude? Does that even matter?

All of us have things that we hold dearly. We must make sure the things that we hold on to are not killing us but rather saving us.

Exodus 20:12

The Fifth Commandment tells us to honor our father and mother. For some that may be easy, while for others the most difficult task in the world when their father or mother did not do much to deserve honor. How do we fulfill this command?

Deuteronomy 1:6

Feel like you’ve been going in circles? The nation of Israel had been going in circles and then finally God told them they had been there “long enough”. God wants us to move “northward” from the places we’ve been before.

The Fourth Commandment is the longest one. God told us to remember the Sabbath Day and to keep it holy. How does this apply to us today? There is a day of rest God has for us to enter into and keep.

Exodus 21:6

A servant could be released on the 7th year of service. If they loved their master and they had the option to go all in and remain a servant forever by having their ear bored through with an aul on the door post. Jesus Christ came in the form of a servant and was crucified on the post called the cross.

Exodus 20:7

The Third Commandment instructs us not to use the name of the LORD in vain. What is the name of the LORD? How does this apply to us today?

Luke 9:51

Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem, and it was obvious to all in the village of Samaria. There should be a direction about our face and lives that is obvious to the world. Prayer and fasting is an excellent way to set your face the right direction.

Genesis 37:31-33

Jacob was persuaded by an assumed reality that his son Joseph was dead. His family tried to comfort him but he refused their comfort determined to die mourning. He was determined to be depressed. It is false to assume there is no hope of life. Do not make the same mistake.

John 14:1-3

Jesus has prepared a place for us. We must now prepare our hearts for Him.
