The pastors are joined by Vicar Nick today to revisit Dietrich Bonhoeffer's "The Cost of Discipleship." We pose the very controversial question, "What does grace require?"
The pastors take a look at a sermon given by Dietrich in London in 1934. What does it mean to live for others? How do we serve? Jesus calls us to bear one another's burdens and look to Him on the cross for rest and restoration.
Pastor Hill and Pastor Cronkright take a look at a lecture that Dietrich gave on August 29, 1932 at the International Youth Conference of the Universal Christian Council on Life and Work and the World Alliance for Promoting International Friendship through the Churches in Gland, Switzerland.
So, we pose the question..."Is the church dead?"
We continue our conversation today about Dietrich's interpretation of John's revelation behind the curtain of death, reminding us that those who die in Christ truly die well.
Dietrich gave a sermon entitled "Learning to Die" where he talks about John's revelation behind the curtain of death in Revelation 14.
We had a slightly longer conversation than normal and rather than cutting out some, we decided to break our conversation up into two parts! You'll have to wait until next week for the really juicy conversation about learning to die in our world.
A great discussion today over Dietrich's sermon from exactly 88 years ago! In this sermon, he talks about the conflict at Sinai with Moses, Aaron, and the golden calf.
Side note, listen to the end for a short discussion on if God hears prayers of unbelievers and if He changes his mind! Gotta love the rabbit trails.
The pastors are back from their Covid-19 break, which inspired an episode on Christian freedom. We pray it provokes you to think about what it means to be free in Christ.
Thank you all for your prayers and support of the ministry while we were away.
Continued raw discussion on the Confessional Status article.
Where do we as Christians draw the line? Will we stand with Bonhoeffer and Luther?
We walk through the document Bonhoeffer, Status Confessionis, and the Lutheran Tradition. Persecution is coming. Will the Church take a stand?
What does it mean to be risen with Christ? Do we really let these powerful words impact us in the way that they are intended? Pastor Jim and Pastor Tyler jump in to a great discussion as they kick off the Easter Season.
