It’s been said that the worst sins are the ones we don’t commit. We tend to look down on other people’s shortcomings but are more than happy to excuse our own. Pastor Daniel will make it clear that God’s standard is the same for every sin: none is permitted. Not the ‘little white lie’ that Abraham and Sarah told Abimelech or the actions that Abimelech took because of the lie he was told. Fortunately, God’s grace is available to everyone.

Sin is like cancer or more like eating candy. Candy tastes good and is fun to eat but at the same time, there are microbes that are eating away at your teeth. And if you don’t take care of your teeth you’ll find that they have become weak and rotted. Pastor Daniel’s teaching today is going to address the danger of letting sin take root in our lives by showing what happened to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Don’t let sin ruin you!

People – Christian or not – like to point at other people’s sins and thereby minimize their own shortcomings. In the church, it has been fashionable to point at homosexuality in light of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and say that homosexuality is somehow worse than other sins. In his teaching today Pastor Daniel is going to show that all sins are equally damning in the eyes of God, and we need to focus on our own fallenness first.

In today’s world humility is seen as weakness. Especially when you’re a person of influence or prestige, being willing to defer to someone society has decided is below your status should not be done. Pastor Daniel is going to teach about Lot, who was a leader in the town of Sodom, and how his sense of hospitality caused him to behave in a way that others might have thought below his station. It’s a lesson that it would benefit us to learn.

When was the last time you prayed God's attributes over someone? Do you know someone who needs God's love or mercy in their life? Today, Pastor Daniel teaches us how to intercede for others. Intercessory prayer starts with drawing nearer to God. We then stand in the gap and ask God to be God in their lives. Pray for God's mercy, forgiveness, faithfulness, or His love in their life. Are you stuck in an impossible situation? Does it look like there’s no way out? Pastor Daniel reminds us today to ask ourselves, "Is there anything too difficult for The Lord?" He is our deliverer. He’s our rescuer. He’ll redeem our situations for His glory. Is there anything God can't do? God strengthens our faith by putting us in seemingly impossible situations and then rescues us. Following God is fiercely counterculture. It turns the conventional wisdom of the world on its head. Trusting a God you can’t see or touch and Who talks to you in your mind? They say that is craziness. Pastor Daniel will be teaching about one of those countercultural icons, Abraham. You will learn that what made Abraham stand out in God’s eyes was his simple obedience. God told Abraham to go, and Abraham went.

We all have things we want. Not superficial things like a better body or more clothes. Real deep down things like inner peace. Or feeling secure in the decisions you make. These are the things that really matter and which we have little or no control over. Pastor Daniel is going to show you some of the names of God and you’ll be able to see that just as God took total care of Abraham He can and will do the same for you if you’re willing to let Him.

Nobody likes to admit to making a poor choice. And when people make choices together and the thing goes sideways, they usually end up blaming each other for the mishap. You’ll see Abraham and Sarah making a choice that Sarah is going to regret, and take her frustration out on her husband and the surrogate mother that Sara suggested. Pastor Daniel will show you God’s grace in the situation and how God’s grace is available to you, too.

We all think that we’re pretty good. And the temptation is, if we believe in an afterlife, to think that being a pretty good person is good enough for God. But when you’re honest with yourself you realize that you probably fall short of God’s standard. This is what Pastor Daniel will be teaching about today. You’ll hear about Abram’s journey of faith and how God accepted Abraham’s simple belief and trust and bestowed righteousness on Abraham.
