"We must obey God rather than men." Words that echo through the centuries just as true today as when Peter spoke them. In Houston and around the nation, religious freedom is under attack. How we respond, how we make war, is as important as the victory itself.

How does the church connect with people? Some say that we need to find a way to make the church relevant in this modern age. Critics claim that relevance waters down the message. Is there some truth to that? If so, how do we reach people?

The smile, the smooth words, the beautiful ideas. Evil doesn't always show itself for what it is. Danger lurks behind the face that evil shows the world, even it's most beautiful one.

Evil has many faces. The obvious one, the one that anyone can point to, has a mission. We need to be aware of it before we can combat it.

Once again, sexual delusion is on our radar screen. Another advocate of so-called "Christian Swingers" has popped up in Florida. This is a real thing. It's a bizarre week with that story, an app for hookups, and more hitting the news. Under it all, there is some real truth to be learned from someone who knows.

Are you sick of it? Get rid of it! If you're not sure what I mean, tune in. There are times when hope is needed before further exposing the deeds of darkness.

The world is an increasingly horrible place. Persecution, death, and fear are growing at an alarming rate. The time for passivity is over. It will take a lot for us to overcome the shadow of evil. It can be done.

In these days, what message do we really need from the pulpit? While all teaching on the Word is of value, it's possible that not all of it should come from the pulpit. We need to consider what the world really needs not what we want to teach.

It catches the ear, draws us in like moths to a flame. What is it that can so capture our attention? Do these scandals that intrigue us so have consequences?
