This chapter reveals the deepest truth about Jesus’ identity and about your own. This is the chapter where Jesus confronts the crowd’s mixed motives, the dual eye’s dependence on externals, and the human longing for a God who will meet our needs without asking for our hearts.

John 5 is not about a miracle. It is about the end of striving and the beginning of seeing. Let me say that again. John 5 is not about a miracle; it is about the end of striving and obtaining the single eye.

Today we enter John chapter 4 — a chapter where Jesus crosses every boundary the crowd believes in, every division the dual eye depends on, every category the old mind uses to separate “us” from “them,” “holy” from “unholy,” “acceptable” from “unacceptable.”

Nicodemus sees Jesus through the dual eye — part revelation,part assumption, part truth, part tradition. He sees Jesus as someone who can help him improve the life he already has. But Jesus does not come to improve the old. He comes to reveal the new.

John 2 is the story of the old being replaced by the new, the external by the internal, the shadow by the substance. It is the story of the single eye.

John 1 is not the beginning of Jesus’ story. It is the unveiling of the One who had no beginning. The single eye sees this chapter not as an introduction, but as a revelation—an opening of sight into the eternal life that has always been with the Father and has now appeared in human form.

As you partake of The Single Eye Pilgrimage, you will learn to question all pretexts you use to filter your understanding of the indwelling Christ. Religion casts a long shadow from the days of Jesus on Earth, and we moved directly into the same dependency on the religious elite when we adopted Catholicism as the global religion in the 6th century.
