She has been the Truman Collins Professor of World Christianity and History of Mission, as well as the director of the Center for Global Christianity and Mission at Boston University since 1984. She has written several books and papers, including, ‘Christian Mission: How Christianity Became a World Religion’.

Born in 1941 in China, to medical missionaries, he completed his schooling in England and obtained his doctor of philosophy from Oriel college in Oxford. He has written or edited over 30 books.
