  • Rickety Bridge & Table Mountain Cape Town Big 6
Since October 4, 1929, we have been providing visitors with a world-class cableway experience when accessing Table Mountain. As the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, we operate in a National Park and World Heritage Site. This gives our visitors a unique experience when making their way up Table Mountain.

The mountain’s magnetism has a way of drawing people in, compelling them to reach the summit either by hike or by cableway. But getting to the top was not always the effortless trip it is today.
Our commitment to innovation and sustainability has played a significant role in promoting tourism in Cape Town. Our dedication to conservation and exceptional customer service has made us a symbol of adventure and wonder, cherished by locals and tourists alike.

With a history going back to 1797, the estate and its legacy have been passed on to its current owner Duncan Spence who has been ownership of the estate since 2000.

This historic estate was originally part of the great La Provence farm given to French Huguenot farmers in 1694. Over the years the property was divided and the portion which is now Rickety Bridge was granted to Paulina De Villiers, one of the first female landowners in South Africa, in 1797.

In the late 1980s, the estate became known as Rickety Bridge due to the old railway sleeper bridge which crossed the Franschhoek River and provided the entry point to the estate. The rickety bridge was replaced in 1996 and the new bridge provides a safe crossing over the river.

  • Accommodation And Travel In Eastern Cape Part 2
    Our story
In February 2019 Ludolf and Carla Smit bought a property with the aim to relocate to the ‘platteland’ (countryside). During the next few months they frequented auctions and markets, researched linen and amenities, planned gas and grey water systems, stocked up on coffee beans and tiles and then relocated from Johannesburg to the quiet Karoo to live their dream. Their luxury guesthouse and pizzeria are in the village of Nieu-Bethesda, near Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Set in the heart of Nieu-Bethesda village, one is met by an expansive ‘stoep’ (verandah) facing the formal rose garden.
Natural wooden floors lead to the spacious interior and charming en-suite rooms. Large windows, high ceilings and solid walls provide a cool refuge in summer and a warm haven in winter.
All our rooms are individually decorated, and open out onto the garden. Comfort and detail are of the utmost importance with extra length king size beds, crisp white percale linen and plush towels, quality amenities and robes and slippers.

Lani Lombard is the founder and owner of the iconic True Living shop in Cradock in the Eastern Cape Karoo. She started True Living more than 12 years ago to showcase the incredible bounty obtained from farm life, and from the Karoo region in general. A proud farmer’s wife and pioneer-woman of the Karoo, Lani is passionate about growing and serving authentic Karoo food and produce in her bakery, deli and functions venue. Her sprawling vegetable garden and host of fruit-bearing trees serve as the main inspiration for the dishes served in the restaurant.
Lani’s extensive, generationally acquired knowledge of food is also captured in True Living, where dishes pay homage to old Karoo recipes. Despite its traditional roots, however, True Living boasts a modern atmosphere and interior where all guests can experience the tranquility of a small Karoo ‘dorpie’.

  • Crafting Our Way Through The Eastern Cape
I Thotho Mbatsha am a custodian of isiXhosa culture and heritage. I was born in a farm area called Showpark in Port Alfred. I inherited beadwork from my mother and aunt from there I decided to pursue beadwork and traditional attire making from her early childhood.
My products include isiXhosa beaded jewellery, traditional garments and beaded household accessories such as coasters, cutlery, place mats etc.

My services include beadwork training, Xhosa culture lessons, praise singing, Xhosa Traditional Dress styling and bead interpretation.
Add an authentic Xhosa experience to your guest’s stay by inviting Me to teach guests how to make beaded items and how to dress in traditional Xhosa gear, appropriately according to custom. If you order beaded jewellery from me, I can deliver an interpretation for guests. A lovely pre-dinner activity your clients will remember forever.

If clients would like to dress up in Xhosa attire, I can bring the garments for hire and also offer professional photography and videography to capture the moments.
I retired from the Health industry in 2020 to pursue my beading business full time, after three decades of running it as a side hustle.

After years of not getting proper employment. I decided to focus on crocheting because God kept reminding me of the love had for knitting and crocheting and so I started crocheting bags.

The lack of proper capital made me take pauses for months then as soon as I get a little bit of money, I would buy wool. In 2021 I got capital from my brother, and I was able to start successfully. I was able to buy most of the crocheting tools and wool. This is when NASO Creations was born.
