I had a fun call with Anand Guru -Founder SOC Experts. In this episode we try to understand why and how started SOC experts which is arguably the best training edutech company operating in the security space.
He explains how SOC expert is not just another run of the mill training institute however a job oriented transformation institute. We dwell upon how an cutting edge curriculum is developed at SOC experts. Anand recently have launched a new security centric platform which is poised to be a watering hole for the security community. The vision is to build a hands on community where community holds each others hand and help.
We also discussed his plans on how he wants to scale SOC expert in the near future.
Outside of security he always wanted to become a movie director and even with the demands of SOC Experts he still has the spark. One of this life goals is to he has to make a movie.
In this episode we speak to famous CyberSecurity & Privacy Advocate Dr Mahendra Limaye. The one word that describes Dr Limaya is’Relentless’
He has conducted 100+ CyberSecurity Awareness Program across India to raise awareness. He recalls that we as Indian Citizens are not aware of our basic rights. He also realizes that average Indians don’t have remedy for CyberCrimes esp low ticket crimes.
In addition to the awareness programs he runs a Cybercrime helplines which provides free counselling and legal advise to victims of Cybercrimes. As of now this helplines is manned by him and his interns however he is open for collaboration if rightly motivated individuals seek to participate.
We also talked about the long pending Indian Personal Data Protection Bill and how the Indian Govt has done a big disservice to India by delaying the PDPA Act. We agreed that as water down PDPA is almost like a self goal.
If he gets a chance to become a Law minister, he will implement PDPB in its original form the way Justice BN Srikrishna had envisioned it. Which is essential for an IT Services country like india.
He is recently was elected as a member of FDDPI’s core committee and wishes to build FDDPI as the association of choice for all Data privacy professional.
Earlier in his free time he used to love to read Prolific Marathi Writer Vapu Kale however he now keeps himself busy reading caselogs
Had an opportunity to talk to Maria Khan from Pakistan. She has an illustrious academic & professional career. She is an alumnus of Lahore University of Management Sciences & also is a Michigan Grotius Fellow. Currently she works as a Data Privacy Legal Analyst at securiti.ai
In this episode we talk about how privacy is not absolute right and it needs to be balanced with fundamental rights. She believes that Truth and Privacy are interlinked. Freedom of expression and spread of misinformation have a delicate balance.
As an advocate she believes that criticism needs to be allowed as it helps society evolve.
In the light of the recent Twitter - Indian Government Spat, we discussed as to who needs to be the protector of Freedom - should it be the government or private companies?
She believes that in this age of technology, the identified public shaming & the visceral reaction of corporations to avoid Fines as the two drivers to change behavior of companies.
